JUN 25,2013 - JUN 25,2013 (1 DAYS)
Penshurst Place and Gardens: (can be combined with the Tonbridge itinerary).
Opening Times: Gardens: Daily - 10.30 - 18.00,
House and Toy Museum : Daily 12.00 - 16.00.
Prices: Gardens only: 8 GBP, House + Gardens: 10 GBP.
Public Transport: From Tunbridge Wells or Edenbridge buses 231 and 233.
A word of warning: Do not take the train to Penhurst station. It is unmanned station and it is 4 miles from the Gardens. It is quite dangerous to walk this way - since the narrow road has no pavements all along this distance. I did the way to the gardens and back by hitch-hiking.
I visited only the Gardens and the Toy Museum. Photos are not allowed in the House/Castle.
Orientation: The gardens are designed as a series of interconnecting "rooms" or small gardens. The gardens are in their best during Middle May-June-July. The gardens are delightful and feast to the eyes. The restaurant ? Pricey. I ate in Tonbridge High Street.
Weather: Sublime beauty ONLY in bright, warms days.
