Marriage was more like a fairy tale for me, but in real life, it is a whole lot of dreams and responsibilities. After my marriage, I shifted with my husband to Mumbai which was mostly called the city of dreams. For me, the place was more like the city filled with pollution, loud noise and a place where people have no time to notice things. After being in the place for almost a year, all I needed was a break from the city and the pollution. I wanted to trip to some destination which is least affected by the pollution and noise. After talking to my husband we finally decided to enjoy a second honeymoon in the misty hills of Kerala. As planning a trip was something very tiring and boring we decided to avail an affordable tour package from Mumbai. One of the other reasons for us to choose a package because my husband is working for a multinational company in Mumbai had no time to organised or plan a trip. Finally, we decided to avail a package which was organised by a tour operator named Le Lagoon Holiday. The trip was organised to be on the 31st of December. The main reason to choose the year-end for the trip was to have fresh and happening start to the New Year.
On the 31st of December, we finally reached the Mumbai airport by around 4 am, after a long flight of about 4 hrs we reached the Kochi international airport at 8 am. We met up with the tour operators who welcomed us to the state. After completing the tour formalities, the tour operators led us to the taxi that was waiting for us. Travelling from the Kochi international airports to Munnar was a bit tiring task as we had to cover a distance of about 110 km, i.e. a ride of about 3 hrs 30 min. As we were hungry by the time we reached the Kochi international airport we were hungry, so we decided to have the breakfast from one of the best hotels on the way to Munnar. After travelling for about an hour the driver stopped in front of a hotel so that we could have our breakfast. One of the main attractions of Kerala is its cuisine which is filled with flavours and spices. My favourite was the Biryani, due to its unique taste and combination of flavours and spices. Even though Biriyani was something very common in Mumbai, the taste and flavours were entirely different from that in Kerala. After having the breakfast we started with the trip. Even though the ride was almost 3.30 hrs long the view of the hills and the waterfalls on the way to Munnar was one thing that kept us entertained.
Munnar was one of the most visited tourist destination in Kerala, the climate, the misty hills and the tourist destination of the place was enticing and captivating that travellers and honeymooners get greatly attracted to the natural beauty that the place holds in. Unlike Mumbai, the hills were located too far from the disturbance of the city which made the place one of the most beautiful and peaceful destinations in Kerala. A number of honeymooners visit the place to enjoy the beauty and to spend some romantic moments together with the harmony of nature. After travelling for a while we finally reached the Munnar town by 12 pm. From the town, we were accompanied by the tour guide gave us more information regarding the destinations we visited. As the time was already 12 pm we decided to visit our first destination of the day, the eco-point. Located at a distance of about 17 km the place was one of the most beautiful destinations located in the Kannan Devan hills of Munnar. After travelling for about an hour we reached our destination, the place got its name from the phenomena echoing. One of the main attractions of the place was the activities offered in the place like boating, horse riding and more. After enjoying the beauty of the Kannan Devan hills and the place we enjoyed boating and horse riding.
After spending some time in the place we moved on to the next destination of the day, the top station. As per the description, the top station was a place which was the literal heaven for honeymooners filled with closed the mist the place is said to be more like a mini paradise on earth. The top station was located at a distance of 17.5 km from the eco-point which was about 30 min of the ride. After the drive, we reached our next destination of the day. After parking the car at the point we walked to the station, walking for about 10 min we reached the point on the base. The perfect spot in the top station was about 150 steps below. Due to the eagerness to see the cloudy mist and the beauty if the place we climbed down the stops and reached the top station photo point. The view from the place was breathtaking. The thing that attracted me the most to the top station was the view of the hills below and the cloudy mist. Climbing down the steps was not something really hard, but to reach back to the taxi we were to climb up. After enjoying the beauty of the place and clicking some picks of the place, we decided to get back to the taxi as it was already late. It took us about 45 min to reach back to the taxi. The top station was one of the best viewpoints. The place houses a number of shops which offered different types of food. The view that we enjoyed in the top station was something that we could never see or experience in a city like Mumbai. This was one main reason for travellers and honeymooners from such cities trip to Kerala to enjoy the nature and its beauty.
After enjoying the beauty and the climate of the place we decided to check in to the hotel. Travelling back to the Munnar city for about 3 hrs we reached the hotel that was pre-booked for us by 10.30 pm. as we were really tired, we decided to freshen up and have the dinner. By around 11 pm we had our dinner and slept as we had to check out the next day and head back to Mumbai. The next day we woke up at around 9.30 a, after refreshing and having the complimentary breakfast we checked out of the hotel by around 11 am. At the car parking, we met the driver who explained the plan for the day. According to the plan, we were to visit 2 well-known destinations in the place and then head back to the Kochi international airport by evening. The destinations included for the day was the Munnar tea museum, Anamudi and the Marayoor sandalwood forest. We started our trip of the day by 11.30 am. After travelling for 30 min we reached our first destination of the day the Munnar tea museum. Located in the heart of the plantations the tea museum was a destination that fascinated me. The place holds in a wide variety of tea which included the white tea, green tea, chocolate tea, cardamom tea and more. Most of the tea processed in the place had medicinal effects. After seeing the processing of tea and tasting a variety of teas we headed to our next destination of the day, the Anamudi peak.
After travelling for another 30 min we reached our 2nd destination of the day. One of the highest peaks in the Western Ghats located to the south the Anamudi peak was one of the best destinations from where you could enjoy the view of Munnar as a whole. The place was one of the best destinations for couples and honeymooners where they could capture some of the best picks and spend time with each other far from the disturbance of the city. After enjoying the silence and taking some beautiful pictures we headed to the last destination of the day, Marayoor sandalwood forest. One of the most prominent destinations in Munnar the sandalwood forest is mostly visited by couples, honeymooners and families. Travelling for about an hour we reached the forest. Completely covered and thickly packed with the trees the pace could be a destination for couples and honeymooners. Protected by the forest department of Kerala the place holds in a unique aroma of pure sandalwood. After enjoying the beauty of the place we decided to head back to the Kochi international airport as we had no much time to spare.
We started our ride back to the Kochi international airport by around 4 pm and reached the place by 8 pm. After a flight of another 4 hrs, we finally reached Mumbai airport by 1 am early morning. The trip to the hill station of Kerala was not just memorable but filled with entertainment and wonders. Munnar is one of the most prominent destinations in most romantic honeymoon packages as the place holds in the perfect ambience and climate for honeymooners and couples. Kerala being a destination with a number of hill stations with perfect climate and vegetation is one of the best destinations for honeymooners and couples. For travellers who wish to enjoy a holiday free from tension and pollution in the lap of nature Kerala would be a perfect choice.
