    The next day we drove to Efteling - the largest theme park in Holland and one of the oldest in the world. The park is in the town of Kaatsheuvel, and its attractions are based on ancient legends, fairy tales and folklore.A regular ticket to the park is 32€, and children under 4 get in for free.

    There is a local attraction called “Forest Fun”, which is a high-rope park. It’s a bit scary, but the kids loved it ( The address is Gartenstraße 5, 78136, Schonach.

    Hasenhorn coaster in Todtnau ( is not far from Freiburg, and the kids will be most grateful if you’ll take them there… You go up the mountain with a ski-lift (15 minutes or so), catch the lovely view from the top – and then go down on a rail-slide as fast as you can (at least that’s how our children did it – but you can control the speed). The route is 2.9 km long, and it goes down the valley, with steep curves and loops that might make you dizzy….

    Since our daughter was a year and a half old, more than half of the content of a large trolley suitcase was filled with diapers and Similak. Eventually, we discovered we could have purchased diapers and baby food in the islands. So if you're traveling with toddlers you shouldn't be too worried about it.

    The Winner Creek Tram is a hand tram that passes above the gorge and gives you a great view of the angry streams below. The kids loved the ride.
